I Want to Hold your Hand
You are going to watch The Beatles sing one of their most famous songs.
Can you remember the tune or melody?
Can you remember the words?
The Beatles were not an immediate success in America. After disappointing sales for their first two singles, Brian Epstein suggested that John and Paul write a song for the American market.
The two men sat down at a piano and composed the song together. McCartney later said:
Eyeball to eyeball' is a very good description of it. That's exactly how it was. 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' was very co-written. It was our big number one; the one that would eventually break us in America.
I Want to Hold Your Hand was The Beatles first number one in America. It became their biggest selling single. But it was never a favourite of either writer
